Solent Folk Festival

Woolston Community Centre is on the corner of Weston Grove Road and Church Road, Woolston, directly opposite the church. The Centre is half-a-mile from Woolston rail station. Many bus routes also take in Woolston and No 17 goes past the Community Centre.

Local participants in particular should note that this is Southampton Boat Show time: central Southampton should be avoided if at all possible. Come via Cobden Bridge and Peartree if you know the locality. The motorway route below similarly avoids all central areas, coming in via Old Netley and Portsmouth Road.

Walkers from Woolston Rail Station

Cross over the Itchen Bridge Road - not back over the bridge itself (with the toll-booths on your left) and go straight ahead through the bus terminus to the Portsmouth Road (then follow on below).

Walkers from Itchen Bridge Bus Terminus

Go to the Portsmouth Road (wide nearby road). You will need to cross, turn right for a short distance and then left by Alldays up Johns Road. Go to the end and turn left up Obelisk Road, then Church Road is the 2nd right (about 150 yards/metres). The Centre (an old school) is down Church Road on the right, on the corner with Weston Grove Road (opposite the church).

Drivers coming off (or past the east end of) the Itchen Bridge

Turn sharp right down Portsmouth Road if coming off the bridge (not recommended due to Boat Show). At the traffic lights (Lloyds TSB on the corner) turn left through the shopping street (Victoria Road) and then first left up Obelisk Road. Church Road is the 2nd right (about 150 yards/metres). The Centre (an old school) is down Church Road on the right, on the corner with Weston Grove Road (opposite the church).

Drivers from Peartree

Go under the Itchen Bridge approach road, on to Woolston and straight over at the Woolston traffic lights to Victoria Road. First left up Obelisk Road and Church Road is the 2nd right (about 150 yards/metres).The Centre (an old school) is down Church Road on the right, on the corner with Weston Grove Road (opposite the church).

Drivers coming down Portsmouth Road (Motorway Route)

From M27 Junction 8 or A27 or other points east. Follow signs for Hamble initially, but turn right down Portsmouth Road for Woolston after 2nd mini-roundabout. Follow Portsmouth road right down under the rail bridge and past the entrance to the Itchen Bridge (several miles) to the Woolston (NOT Swaythling) traffic lights situated below the bridge to the left, then as Itchen Bridge instructions above.

Car Parking

Centre Car Park is for Performers/Helpers only. Some on-street parking, otherwise the nearest Public Car Park is at the bottom of Church Road (which carries on over Weston Grove Road), turn R into Swift Road for a short distance, then L into Victoria Road and Car Park is immediately on your left (5-7 mins walk from Centre).
