| The
Tabbush Sisters |
John
Kirkpatrick & Chris Parkinson |
|
Carolyn Robson &
Paul Tabbush's talented daughters have been creating quite a stir round the
country.
Anna, Freya & Nonny [Veronica] have been singing since they
were little (or even younger) and feel they have been saturated in the atmosphere
for ever. They have developed a wonderful series of harmonised arrangements
to traditional and other familiar songs that excite both mind and body -
so young and fresh, so skilful, so accomplished, so new without being 'trendy'.
The few who have come across them at Wherwell and elsewhere (they won the
Wiltshire Young Folk Award a couple of years ago) will know what we mean
- don't miss this treat. Listen out in particular for their hair-raising
'Lavenders Blue' and 'Elsie Marley'.
Anna will be giving a vocal workshop
(probably with assistance from her sisters) and all three will perform in
the Afternoon Concert

Known
as 'The Sultans of Squeeze', John & Chris are both icons in their
own right, so well-known they hardly need further description.
Chris John John Kirkpatrick has
been at the very forefront of innovative folk in Britain since the late 1960s,
and has played with, among others, the ALBION BAND, the ALBION COUNTRY BAND,
STEEELEYE SPAN, the RICHARD THOMPSON BAND, BRASS MONKEY, and BAND OF HOPE,
as well as establishing himself as a brilliant solo act (and incidentally
much in demand as a Morris Musician by his home side). It is a pedigree second
to none.
Chris Parkinson has played music since the age of five, starting with the harmonica, and moving on to piano, guitar, concertina, tin whistle, melodeon, piano accordion and keyboards, and even a little time playing the fiddle. He plays traditional folk music of UK, Europe and beyond, and is also no mean hand at blues, rock & roll, and even a bit of jazz. He is a founder member of the much travelled and highly acclaimed The House Band. He is in great demand both for live performance and studio session work, and has worked with countless people from the folk scene and beyond;- Martin Carthy, Norma Waterson, Ralph McTell, Mike Harding, & Steve Phillips, highly regarded blues singer and guitarist, and member of the world-renowned Notting Hillbillies. |
