3 Anything Goes
Play or Sing, read a Poem, tell a Story, listen, fetch the beer, anything
10 Tom Bliss
A real troubadour, Tom is a storytelling multi-instrumentalist (mandocello, guitar, concertina, whistle) with a fine musical voice and a gift for linking-in with his listeners. His music ranges from traditional to contemporary sometimes including one of his own appealing songs - "we were treated to a riveting evening of chat, humour and fine, fine music, making us feel like guests in Tom's front room ..... he somehow manages to add an extra dimension to the music we all love". As well as solo, you may have seen Tom performing with either Tom Napper or Chris Parkinson and in 2009 he will be doing a show with Louis de Berni res (author of ‘Captain Corelli's Mandolin') at Arts Centres and Literary Festivals. His "past" includes fronting Yorkshire folk-rockers ‘Slide', but currently you might also catch one of the special occasions when "the Toms" join Tony Taffinder and Chris Parkinson as ‘The Pipers Sons'

24 Charlie Heys & Jack McNeill
BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award finalists
2008.
Meeting at Birmingham Conservatoire, Jack (fine voice/guitar) and Charlie (fiddle) began playing as a duo in 2007. Charlie (from Hampshire) previously played in ‘Sonas' and also ‘Rubber Chicken' with the Askew Sisters and still plays with her Dad's band. She and Jack are also members of the Conservatoire Folk Ensemble and toured with them in May/June 2008. Jack (from Cumbria) started getting himself known in 2006 at Brampton Live and supporting well-known artistes at Festivals and Clubs as well as recording a CD ‘Before I'm Home' in 2007. As a duo, they have played Clubs and Festivals across the UK including support on the main stages at Ireby and Warwick Folk Festivals 2 years running, in addition to large Clubs like the Red Lion, Birmingham and The Musician, Leicester, thrilled to be rubbing shoulders with such as Martin Carthy & Dave Swarbrick and Spiers & Boden in the process. Finalists in the 2008 BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Awards, they have also featured on BBC Radio in Cumbria and Shropshire as well as recording a CD with the Fellside label called ‘Light Up All The Beacons' containing "songs and tunes about the places we go and the people we meet on the way". To the comfort (and admiring dismay) of older folks and established artistes, these talented young musicians are carrying our native music into the future.
