5 Anything Goes

Play or Sing, read a Poem, tell a Story, listen, fetch the beer, anything

12 Bram Taylor

A warm-hearted man, Bram's audiences enjoy themselves singing, laughing, or occasionally shedding a tear, from the poignant, funny, sad or carefree songs he loves to sing in his fine friendly voice, accompanying himself either on guitar or duet concertina, or sometimes singing a capella from a large repertoire of traditional and contemporary material, spiced with infectious humour. As well as Folk Clubs, Concerts and Festivals all over the UK, he tours in the US, Canada, Europe and Ireland and has often been ‘aired' on local and national radio. His 'Ballads with Bram' festival sessions are regarded as perfect for the-morning-after-the-night-before when you can relax and sing without worrying that you seem to have left your brain-cell somewhere else! Bram is Fellside's longest-serving artiste with 8 solo and several compilation albums to his credit, so we'll all be spoilt for choice.

19 Anything Goes

Play or Sing, read a Poem, tell a Story, listen, fetch the beer, anything

26 Cloudstreet (Nicole Murray & John Thompson)

Second visit of these delightful Australians who inspire each other to put indelible smiles on the faces of listeners .... "side-splitting stories and ballads brought to life - heartily recommended" (James Fagan & Nancy Kerr). Nicole (voice, flute, tin whistle, guitar) and John (fine voice) make listeners feel privileged to hear something special. Their interpretations of traditional songs (mostly from England, Ireland and Australia) and their own original music are magically marked by sublime harmonies and their performance is "uplifting, joyous and very funny". Nicole performs with several other bands (inc Celtic concerts and pantomime) and writes songs and flute tunes. John's love of harmony and unaccompanied singing started in St Stephen's Cathedral Choir in Brisbane. Winner of the Award for Vocal Excellence (1994 National Folk Festival), his reputation developed while singing in tight-harmony groups and his remarkable vocal range makes enthralling listening. At home, he is half of a much-loved comedy duo, has sung in a Celtic Folk Opera and a Cabaret show and performs solo at Folk Festivals. Marvellous musical ambassadors.
