Fo'c'sle Programme October 2002

4 Steve & Kristi Nebel

"Steve & Kristi Nebel are a powerhouse duo ... [who] let us feel the drive that makes us keep on keepin' on" (Barbara Seitz of the 'Pot Belly Deli' in USA). Both from 'singing families' in the Pacific North-West of the USA (Kristi's parents were a barbershop duo), their songs are all based on the people thay have met and on the pioneer culture of the region. "[They] draw you into a tale, and make you care about about the people and places" ('Dirty Linen'). Both sing with skill and verve, Steve plays guitar and Kristi an Ibanez electric bass.

11 Anything Goes

18 Leon Rosselson

Needing no introduction at the Fo'c'sle, Leon's welcome return brings the usual joys of a ‘World Turned Upside Down' (one of his many well-known songs). He commands immense respect among his peers, as you can tell from the names appearing on his CDs (Roy Bailey and Martin Carthy among them). Humorous traditional-style songs with an ironic twist and guitar accompaniment, also an accomplished writer and performer of children's songs that adults like too - he'll do a few, so why not bring the kids along? A real classic of the modern folk world.
