Fo'c'sle Programme May 2010

7 Eileen McGann & David K

Canadian Eileen (beautiful voice/plays guitar) loves the traditional songs of the British Isles, including music which reflects her Irish roots, ranging from ancient ballads to rollicking songs of love and adventure and she has the knack of making both her own and traditional songs come alive for listeners. As a songwriter she has been rightly described as a “gifted lyric poet and composer” whose songs “paint pictures, tell stories and poke fun at today’s absurdities” all written against a backdrop of her clear-sighted social and environmental sensibilities. Long-term accompanist David (Knutson) plays bass, bouzouki, slide guitar and sings harmony with that rare, seamless, sensitive dexterity which makes a duo a single unit (and some folks want to jump on their own instruments)!
