4 Kieron Means
Although born in the US, Kieron has lived mostly in the UK. His love and reverence for the old songs (from either side of the pond) mostly comes from being surrounded by them all his life. He has the rare virtue of singing with startling conviction and a true passion for the music from the deepest well-springs of North American culture, ranging through old-time music from the southern mountains to the blues and to the work of contemporary songwriters steeped in the tradition. His voice has been described as “high and lonesome, yet rounded” and he accompanies himself sparsely and skilfully on the guitar
(he has adapted the sound and style of the old-time banjo to fit the guitar). He has toured with Sara Grey all over the US and had his first major tour of UK Folk Clubs and Festivals in 2001 (solo and duo). In front of an audience his engaging, natural personality shines through for all to see. A rare treat.
