7 Meridian (Richard Jones, Chris Walshaw, Anna Tabbush)

The music of this (fairly new) trio of talented musicians is grounded on the strong chordal framework of Richard Jones (accordion), plus the intricate melodic lines of Chris Walshaw (pipes, whistles, flutes) all enhanced by the angelic voice and rhythm'n'groove harmonies of Anna Tabbush (voice, fiddle, flute). Although Anna is now a highly valued performer, the Band is not yet well-known, but they caused the Director of 2005 Bridgnorth Folk Festival to say "one to watch - if you haven't seen them before, you are in for a big treat". Their wide repertoire includes original tunes and compelling songs and they produce a glorious sound of living energy laced with delicate finesse.

14 Anything Goes

Play, Sing, read a Poem, tell a Story, listen, fetch the beer, anything

21 Derek Gifford

One of those lovely people you just have to listen to, Derek has been singing in his fine mellow voice from his huge repertoire of traditional and contemporary nautical and landlubber folksongs (sometimes with guitar, sometimes not) for over 30 years. As well as his own albums, he is highly-regarded by many well-known performers in this country and they are often found "guesting" on each other's CDs. Living Tradition described his work as "high quality" and a Shreds & Patches' quote on one of his CDs said "a veritable treasure chest of songs ..... sung with fire and passion by one of England's finest". Apart from many Club and Festival performances, Derek gives talks and workshops, is on the team of Folkus (new NW folk arts group) and co-produces the Lancashire Voices project dedicated to recording less well-known Lancashire singers.
