6 Anything Goes

Play or Sing, read a Poem, tell a Story, listen, fetch the beer, anything

13 George Wilson

Last here in 1998 (shame on us) George "never performs at less than 200%". A fine singer and guitarist with a large wide-ranging repertoire of contemporary and traditional songs - everything from delicate heart-tugging, through dark-and-deep to helplessly giggling listeners (wicked sense of humour). A few of his songs are by very well-known artistes (such as Richard Thompson), but he has that rare gift where you find yourself listening as if you've never heard it before. Born within the sound of the Tyneside shipyard rivet guns (a true 'Geordie'), he moved south when he joined the Navy as a boy - after leaving, he worked at various jobs including a DIY retailer, but (he loves to say) was sent on permanent unpaid leave after asking a customer if they wanted 'decking'!! He has performed solo (sang and played guitar that is) at many Festivals, Folk Clubs and pubs all over England and is part of several groups including 'Blo na Gael' and 'Madrigalleon - also 'The 'andsome Cabin Buoys' for nautical goings-on on board HMS Warrior and latterly as 'Zimmer-R-Men' (with Jeff Henry) performing Dylan songs with a difference. He has several CDs, the latest being Who's the Fool Now and hopefully he'll have some with him.
