Fo'c'sle Programme January 2007

5 Anything Goes

Play or Sing, read a Poem, tell a Story, listen, fetch the beer, anything

12 Chien Bizarre

Chien BizarreDuncan Brown (clarinet, saxophone), Andy McKenzie (accordion), Su Eaton (hurdy-gurdy, recorder), Chris Townsend (fiddle, recorder) and Doogie McKenna (guitar) sing and play songs and tunes old and new from the UK, France, Europe and elsewhere, including self-penned, in their own distinctive slightly quirky style. Chien Bizarre includes two people from the amazing, but now defunct, klezmer band 'Souls of Fire'.
"They are brilliant live with a real vibrant feel for intricate melody and compelling dance rhythms" (Paul Burke, Bournemouth Folk Club).

Chien Bizarre were a late addition to the 2006 Solent Folk Festival (replacing an unexpected cancellation) and many of you will have heard and enjoyed them there, so join us now for a full set of their joyous music.

19 Anything Goes

Play or Sing, read a Poem, tell a Story, listen, fetch the beer, anything

26 Roger Wilson

Well-known for his part in some famous collaborations - notably Wood Wilson Carthy, but also in the House Band, with Kate Rusby on the Concert Party Tour, as a duo with Karen Tweed and he was also part of the millennium Mysteries at the RNT. Martin Carthy describes him as ‘absolutely brilliant' to anyone listening and we think so too! Singer, fiddler, guitarist and songwriter (Martin's description applies to all), he performs a wide and vivid mixture of folk and original songs, covers, adaptations and fiddle tunes. Try not to miss him.
