Fo'c'sle Programme January 2006

6 Anything Goes

Play or Sing, read a Poem, tell a Story, listen, fetch the beer, anything

13 Rob Mills

Rob Mills at Wickham May DayLiving among the old country ways in Hampshire most of his life, Rob has always loved to entertain with unaccompanied songs, dancing and stories. A founder member of King John's Morris, he also danced with Woodfidley Display Dance Team for 14 years often singing to audiences while the team was changing costume. Eventually joining Wickham Morris (as their ‘Fool') he gets asked to sing in the pub after performances. Many songs are from his Father (champion herdsman/noted traditional singer) but he also writes good topical and evocative songs and tunes reflecting his life. Last here for the Fo'c'sle's 40th Birthday evening, he is long-overdue to regale us with his entertaining songs and stories.

27 Heather Bradford & Julian Longden

Heather & Julian

This new high-quality duo were first seen at Winchester Folk Festival in May 2005 and more recently at Solent Folk Festival in September where many compliments were heard. Heather's lovely voice is further enriched by Julian's enviable guitar playing and he has just as good a voice. Expect beautiful harmonies (they also sing solo) and the guitar instrumentals are worth hearing in their own right. The songs and music are traditional (or traditional style) and subtly reflect Heather's Irish heritage and Julian's years in the US absorbing many musical genres (he started with electric guitar and graduated back to traditional acoustic).
