The richness of her work has attracted publishers, among them Roger la Borde, resulting in the now familiar designs for cards and gift wrap. More recently she has been illustrating children's books, some currently being translated into other languages and including I Have A News (Albion 1994, ISBN 1 871927 09 9), an illustrated version with typical tunes (they varied with the performer) of some of the Caribbean folksongs and children's rhymes collected and published by Walter Jekyll in 1907:

This is alongside her 'serious' pictures which form the exhibition.
After her MA (RCA) in printmaking, she taught at Falmouth School of Art. Subsequently, awards from the French Government, The Arts Council of Gt. Britain & The British Council took her to France, Rome and India. In Italy she responded to the architecture and sculpture of antiquity and in India to the colours and flavour of its culture. These influences, together with the very English pleasure of the Bloomsbury group and the austere abstracts of Scott and Nicholson, all have gone into the melting pot to form the distinctive voice of Jacqueline Mair. Recently she held a successful exhibition by invitation for the inauguration of the new British Council HQ building in Mexico City.
The tour is based on her one-man exhibition in June 1997 at the Aspex Gallery, Portsmouth, organised by Les Buckingham who also wrote the Catalogue but has later additions including some relating to Mexico.
A vibrant, colourful exhibition with educational possibilities in the archetypal imagery relating to the history from various cultures and exploration of printing techniques.
(a preview of a selection of the works was shown at the First Gallery on Sunday 19 September 1999).
