Fo'c'sle Programme February 2008

1 Anything Goes

Play or Sing, read a Poem, tell a Story, listen, fetch the beer, anything

8 Tom & Barbara Brown

Working together for 35 years, Tom & Barbara have acquired a hugely diverse repertoire of songs grounded in the traditions of the West Country. Singing from the heart, their deep knowledge of this background folklore relays the contemporary relevance of the songs to their listeners. Close-harmony, solo, unaccompanied, or with Tom's sensitive arrangements on concertina, melodeon, guitar or mandola, their lovely singing of fine ballads with irresistible melodies or comic songs with catchy choruses is a delight. They do a massive amount of valuable work in the folk world (not got room here to say) and some of you might have been lucky enough to get to a workshop, or catch one of their several highly-praised Shows.

22 [Bob Lewis]

CHANGE OF PLAN AT FO'C'SLE (Friday 22 February)

Our Guest tonight was Bob Lewis, but unfortunately he called to say that his chest cold (which he hoped was improving enough for him to sing) was unexpectedly worse again this morning - as he would be travelling over from Sussex, he has very reluctantly decided it would be wiser not to come (he has been rebooked for 9 May).

Tonight will now be a "Floorspotters Evening" (15-20min spots) with a few invited performers and time available for others.

The door charge is £1 to pay for the room (the same as an Anything Goes evening).
