With guitar, hurdy-gurdy,
mandolin, whistles, lovely
harmonies, joy and vivacity, this talented well-loved duo from North
America will have you laughing, crying and singing with them from their
vast repertoire of the music of the oceans. Tonight, their programme is
seasonal with songs and tunes,
old and new, enlightening, surprising, funny, touching or ‘high drama'
- many from the tall ships with crews from England, Ireland, Germany,
France, West Indies, wherever - or from the fisherfolk ‘hunting' the
seas around the continents (and one or two of ‘landlubber' origin). Felicia was born on Vashon Island in
Puget Sound with her sea-captain Father bringing back tales and
treasures from exotic ports while from her transplanted Parisian
Mother, she acquired French as her first language and a love of songs
from the French seafaring tradition. William was led astray into the folk
world in 1970, wooed away from early R'n'R influences by Steeleye Span
and Fairport Convention, leading into the more traditional music of
such as Martin Carthy and John Renbourn - when heading away from cold
Wisconsin winters pursuing music, he met both Felicia and the rich
music of the Pacific northwest - we are lucky people.Play or Sing, read a Poem, tell a Story, listen, fetch the beer, anything
