Fo'c'sle Programme September 2000

1 Opening Night - Anything Goes

At our "Anything Goes" evenings, come to listen, perform, make friends or just to fetch the beer - with the emphasis on any new skills or music (or tastes in beer or gossip) picked up during the Summer. Hammer your dulcimer! Strip your cloggie! (who said that?) Make the [Duke of] Welliekin ring!

8 Ramskyte

Local powerful 4-man singing group (John Bartlett, Brian Ingham, Pete Luscombe & John Thornton). All are longtime Floor singers in the SCoFF area, plus Dancers with Victory (3 of them are or have been Squire). Ramskyte perform everything from complex 'West Gallery' to rousing Chorus songs in vigorous 4-Part Harmony, with occasional Concertina accompaniment . The songs are a mixture of traditional, modern and self-penned, with all members of the group having contributed material at one time or other.

15 Anything Goes

22 Closed to avoid the Boat Show and in preparation for:

Saturday 23 September:
Solent Song 'n Ale at Woolston Community Centre

29 Alien Folklife

Joan Kosby & Paul Mercer. Canadian-American folk duo much-loved in the States and now set to make a name over here, combining offbeat humorous material with deeply emotional story songs. Unique chemistry ... stunning original folk material ... [with] unforgettable characters (Dirty Linen). Listen out for previews of their CD Double Vision at the Club. As the Zen master said to the hot-dog vendor, "Make me one with everything".
