6 Dan Lewis and Joe Freeman (aka Down Home)

From the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina 'The Lewis & Freeman Expedition' perform original and traditional American music with vocals, guitars, banjo, mandolin and harmonica. Dan Lewis taught himself to play more than a dozen musical instruments and has performed hundreds of times for thousands of people, with music ranging through folk, blues, waltzes and neo-classical electronic to 'old' rock & roll dance music and original songs. He has seven albums of original music and performed with synthesizer inventor Robert Moog and blues legends Walt & Ethel Phelps, among others. Joe Freeman may be the best kept musical secret in the Blue Ridge Mountains; his work as a lute maker and vintage instrument dealer is well known in musical circles, but his skills as a gifted banjo stylist, instrumental composer and traditional music interpreter have, until recently, been rarely offered to the public.
