Special Children's Concert

27 Mike Agranoff

Described as undescribable, Mike's contagious first and last love is playing and singing - anywhere. A superb fingerstyle guitarist in idioms ranging from ancient harp to obscure Tin-Pan-Alley - playing anyone from Bach to Berryman on concertina - haunting, complex, exciting, but above all musical. Not a prolific songwriter, he is an astute and discriminating gleaner, equally at home with a traditional ballad or contemporary song, or a dance tune - everything from a heart-wrenching story-song to some of the most horrible parodies ever perpetrated on unsuspecting audiences.
A word-smith and raconteur, he weaves fascinating stories and monologues among the music and you will find yourselves singing choruses to songs you've never heard before or finding new meaning in a song heard a million times.

Debra Chesman (our predecessor at the Fo'c'sle) writes:

"He is coming to Valley Folk in March, having once done a concert at my house. His New Jersey accent is probably the most nasal-sounding one you can get, but he is very funny and quirky and gives a really good, fun concert. He is known around here for knowing the words to lots of long songs and recitations."
