they have since been "bagged" by clubs all over (as well as finding
themselves as support to Waterson:Carthy at the prestigious York Early
Music Centre) - this is their second visit here. Living Tradition said
of their debut CD that Emily "has that special way with a song and is a
talented interpreter ... sheer fine singing" and that Ben "is a skilled
and subtle guitar accompanist, never flash, never obtrusive, always
there with the right arrangement and occasional small flourish to
enhance Emily's singing". Their wide-ranging repertoire is mostly
traditional with a few songs by such as Paul Weller and Billy Bragg.Play or Sing, read a Poem, tell a Story, listen, fetch the beer, anything

21 Talented young musicians Emily & Hazel Askew
Born and bred in London and regularly visiting Sidmouth Folk Festival and folk dances since childhood, these young musicians have played (mostly) traditional music from all over the UK (and beyond) for many years (more recently in the Hants-based band ‘Rubber Chicken') gradually building up skills on various instruments "to the dismay of neighbours" and just getting better and better - and now as a duo they've added beautiful songs. Emily plays fiddle and harmonises (also plays cello) and Hazel plays melodeon and is a fine singer (also plays flute) and they have a debut CD ‘Six by Two' produced by Wild Goose Studios in 2005.
