Suzi and Marie [L-R in the photograph] love singing/harmonising, accompanying each other on guitar, Hungarian cittera, Appalachian dulcimer, keyboard, bells and drum. They charm with an eclectic mix of traditional songs, some songs by contemporaries Graham Moore and Ron Trueman-Border (among others) and some self-penned. Having been on the folk scene many years with family/professional responsibilities confining them to floorspotting, they've had more time to "branch out" in the last year and are residents at Friday Folk, Orpington, as well as gaining recognition in folk clubs and smaller festivals in SE England. An admirer said their harmonies sound like "butterflies wings on toast" (true), topped by someone else saying "more like moths on speed" (see what you think); they're great fun and make lovely sounds singing and playing their well-chosen material.
Multi-talented Tim is a folksinger, songwriter and actor with a warm friendly voice, swooping, wheeling concertina and witty tales and pithy comments - we are regularly asked "When is Tim coming again"? He has worked with some of the best-regarded names on the scene, from the Mellstock Band through Sneak's Noyse to the Kipper Family, recorded material ranging from the Dorset dialect poetry of William Barnes to Music Hall songs, performed with Magic Lantern and The Albion Band, played concertina in 5 National Theatre productions, works regularly for The Lions Part and Theatre on the Downs and is a specialist in the songs, traditions and dialect of the West Country, especially the poetry and prose of William Barnes and Thomas Hardy. He also performs traditional music and storytelling in schools and his large repertoire of folk music is the basis for the material of the much-loved New Scorpion Band.
