Known around the Portsmouth and Southampton areas since the heady days of leaving the Navy after 24 years (he joined at 15), George has become a familiar figure as Concert MC and performer at Fareham & Gosport, Winchester and Broadstairs Folk Festivals. With a steady succession of gigs to his credit, both solo and in duos like Blo Na Gael (with Keith Holloway) and The Phatt B'Stards (with Geoff Higginbottom), George Wilson is a highly entertaining and talented singer-guitarist.

He was born and brought up in Tyneside, a true 'Geordie' born within the sound of rivet guns at Swan's Shipyard. His father was an accomplished multi-instrumentalist and singer in the heyday of concert parties and at one time actually played the piano for Gracie Fields. George lists his main influences as Richard Thompson, Lee Collinson, Shep Woolley, Pat Nelson, Mary Black, Roger Courtney and Eric Clapton (notice the engaging mixture of local heroes and superstars). His repertoire ranges 'from contemporary Child Ballads to traditional Elton John' and now includes a major contribution from his friend and associate Ron Trueman-Border.
He's a budding folk-megastar who may well persuade the Rock Chicks to join him
- in which case-
just dynamite!!
