SCoFF claims no credit for the following events which are independently run in and around the SCoFF area, in some cases by Member Clubs or their organisers, but it does encourage and support them and hopes that members will encourage their regulars to attend.

  • The National Folk Festival will not take place in 2006 due to loss of its venue to semesterised education
  • Folklights Extra Thursday 1 June 2006 8pm (doors open 7.45) The Bishop's Room, Abbey Hotel, Church St, Romsey, Hants. An evening of quality music and singing featuring Brian Hooper & Jeff Henry, Pete Luscombe and Contraband, with half-hour interval jam session - just bring an instrument and join in. These Concerts take the place of the Plaza Folklights series, now discontinued. Tickets £4 on the door (max capacity 60).
  • Caversham Charity Folk Festival Mike Tierney has announced his retirement as President of the Caversham Charity Folk Festival. Begun by Mike in October 1993 at the Miller's Arms in Caversham, the CCFF has raised a total of Ł55,000 for various local charities from Summer Festivals and Winter Warmers in and around Caversham. Mike's is a difficult act to follow, as those who attend his regular pub sessions will agree, and it is therefore with great regret that we have to announce the closure of the CCFF at the same time.

  • Broadside Folk Festival Sunday 16 July 2006. The Old House at Home, Locksway Road, Milton, Portsmouth. 2-6pm Garden Party with BBQ, all musicians and instruments welcome. 6pm-late Singaround in the Bar. Linda Smith 02392 732606
  • Bideford Folk Festival 14-20 August 2006 This week long friendly festival is held in and around the historic port of Bideford , situated in beautiful North Devon . There are concerts and music sessions taking place every day of the week with plenty of opportunity for musicians and singers to join in and for audiences to sit and listen to some good music and soak up the atmosphere. We try to make as many events as possible, free entry, and there will be a bar at most venues. Special Pre-Festival day Saturday June 10th 2006
  • White Horse Folk Festival 18-20 Aug 2006, Grove, Nr Wantage, Oxfordshire. Small, friendly Festival. We start on Friday evening with a singaround, music session and a late night session. On Saturday & Sunday morning and Saturday afternoon there are workshops, theme sessions or informal 'Meet the Artists' with festival guests. Lunchtimes bring the Big Sings in The Bell P.H. The festival closes on Sunday afternoon after the lunchtime Sing. How To Find Us - Grove is a village neighbouring the town of Wantage in Oxfordshire. Upon reaching Grove follow signs for "Grove Technology Park" until you see signs for "WHFF". Camping: We have camping space for caravans, tents & campers on the Grove Recreation field and we use the facilities at Grove Rugby Club, including the toilets, showers and bar. We also use the Scout Hut on the recreation field. Food: Breakfasts are available at the Rugby Club. In the village can be found an Indian restaurant, pub food, Café, Chinese takeaway and Chip shop as well as food shops. Children: Being a small festival there are no special events for children although they are welcome at all events.   • Folkfest at Burnham-on-Sea, Somerset, 2-3 September 2006, the first ever. Live music in the pubs of Burnham all day (11.00am to 11.00pm) on the Saturday, A childrens Ceilidh on the Saturday Afternoon and a Full blown Ceilidh on the saturday Night at the Princess Hall with Gypsy Kiss. All events are free except the Saturday Night Ceilidh where tickets are £6. The Sunday hosts an open air concert in the Manor gardens between Noon and 6pm, with a range of top quality artistes...again Free of Charge. We are also looking for acoustic clubs and artistes who are prepared to play for nothing in some of the pub slots. We will also have Morris Men and Clog dancing along the seafront and in the Town.

This year will be a Free Festival for all daytime events including Afternoon Folk Club, Workshops, Dance Displays and teatime 'Meet the Artiste'.
